About Me

My family and I on the day I moved into RIT.

My name is Derek Lescarbeau and I am a Game Design and Development major in my final year at the Rochester Institute of Technology. At this point in my degree program, I am very interested in the design aspects of game development, and I have enjoyed being the level designer of a couple class projects. While being interested in the design of the games, I also have enjoyed learning the programming and development side of the process as well.

While my academics are most important to me during my time at RIT, they are not what define me to the people I know. I am, first and foremost, a friendly person that strives to make everyone's life a little bit more fun. I treat everyone with the respect I would expect in return, and on top of that I do my best to get the people around me to smile. For me, video game design is an opportunity to do just that. My goal in designing and developing games is to get the player to have fun and enjoy themselves over all else. Games are supposed to be enjoyable, they exist as an escape for a person to go somewhere else and be someone else for a while. I want to make gaming experiences that give players the opportunity to step away from reality for a bit, and enjoy themselves in an environment that they can be immersed in.
